PM to slash red tape and accelerate WA projects

The Prime Minister’s plan to slash red tape and drive several road, rail and iron ore projects has been welcomed by WA business leaders, who believe it will help boost local jobs and assist in restoring our coronavirus impacted economy.

The Federal Government intends to fast track 15 priority national infrastructure projects, estimated to be worth almost $72 billion and create 66,000 jobs.

Approval times for these projects will be slashed in half, from 3.5 years to 21 months due to a new “single touch” process where a bilateral model has been formed between federal, state and territory governments.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA chief economist Aaron Morey said that the fast tracking of infrastructure projects will also be in detriment to the environment commenting that, “infrastructure investment builds upon payroll tax cuts, free relief and regulatory reform to provide better conditions for WA’s economic revival.”
