Energy efficiency and why you should go 6 stars

July 22, 2019

If you are looking for a home where you will slash your energy bills and have a future-proofed investment, then a NatHERS accredited six-star building is the way to go. A high energy rating is becoming a growing focus in new homes, so what’s all the talk about 6-star energy rating?

The six-star rating measures the energy efficiently based on its heating and cooling efficiencies. The government upgraded the minimum efficiency standard in 2011 from five to six stars.

The benefits of six star rated development projects include:

  • Using 20 to 25% less energy
  • Lower energy bills
  • Less pressure on energy infrastructure
  • Reduction of carbon emissions
  • Assists to lessen the impact on climate change
  • Better resale value when selling

Having a six-star home doesn’t have to cost more either, in fact energy efficient homes will be even more affordable over time when savings in energy costs are taken into account.

Mr Bartier, BGC Executive General Manager commented, “It means you’ll have a comfortable, well-designed, energy-efficient home and a future-proofed investment”.

Griffin’s development Reside on Money in the heart of Northbridge, will be a uniquely green focused apartment complex. The smart 6-storey building with 22 apartments, has been designed with energy-saving green-tech infrastructure that harnesses renewable energy to lower the cost of electricity, heating, cooling and hot water, while reducing carbon emissions.
