$2.4 billion set for infrastructure projects
May 11, 2020
The State Government is fast tracking tenders for $2.4 billion to kickstart multiple transport infrastructure projects guaranteeing small and medium sized contractors the chance to be involved in the smaller packages.
Premier Mark McGowan commented that as a part of the new State-wide Construction Panel Contract, WA’s small and medium sized contractors will benefit from a streamlined tender process for projects under $20 million.
“Clearly a lot of contractors – small – and medium – sized building and construction contractors – are suffering over this period and government work is extremely important in keeping those businesses viable and afloat,”said Mr McGowan.
Andy Graham, chief executive for Civil Contractors Federation WA welcomed the news expressing his thoughts that the streamlined tender process will help keep Western Australians employed.
The project is expected to create thousands of local jobs.
